Carthage High School Agricultural Science teacher and Carthage alumnus Mark Davis has been recognized as the Outstanding Area VI Experienced Teacher during the opening session of the 2026 Agriculture Teachers Association of Texas (ATAT) Professional Development Conference in Corpus Christi.

The Outstanding Teacher Award is one of the most prestigious honors in Texas agricultural education. Each year, one experienced teacher from each ATAT area is nominated by their peers and evaluated at the state level based on excellence in teaching, student success, agricultural program development, and a demonstrated commitment to inspiring students and advancing agricultural education.

For decades, Davis has dedicated his career to serving the students of Carthage ISD. A proud Carthage graduate, he returned home to invest in the community that helped shape him, building a program recognized for its excellence while mentoring generations of students through agricultural science, FFA, and Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) programs.

Throughout his career, Davis has been committed to developing not only knowledgeable agricultural students, but also young leaders prepared for success in college, careers, and their communities. His influence extends far beyond the classroom, with former students continuing to make meaningful contributions across the agricultural industry and beyond.

“Mark’s dedication to his students and to the agricultural education profession is evident in everything he does,” said Carthage ISD Interim Superintendent Dr. Glenn Hambrick. “This recognition reflects the tremendous impact he has had on generations of Bulldog students and the pride he takes in representing Carthage ISD. We couldn’t be more proud of him.”

The Outstanding Experienced Teacher Award recognizes educators with 16 or more years of service who exemplify excellence in instruction, student achievement, program development, and leadership within agricultural education. Being selected as Area VI’s honoree places Davis among the state’s most respected agricultural science educators.

Carthage ISD congratulates Mark Davis on this well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his continued commitment to educating, mentoring, and inspiring Bulldog students. His dedication has strengthened both the Agricultural Sciences program and the Carthage community, leaving a legacy that will continue to impact students for years to come.
