Carthage ISD is proud to recognize Mrs. Annette Harris as Libby Elementary’s Teacher of the Year, honoring more than two decades of dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to students.
With 22 years in education, Mrs. Harris has built a career rooted in meeting students where they are and helping them grow with confidence and purpose. She is a graduate of Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on Elementary Education with an emphasis in Special Education. She is certified to teach general education grades 1–8 and Special Education for ages 3–21.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Harris has served in a variety of roles, teaching Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grades, along with 5th and 6th grade Resource and Life Skills. She is currently completing her 11th year as a 2nd/3rd grade Life Skills teacher, where she continues to make a lasting difference in the lives of her students and their families.
Her approach to teaching goes far beyond the classroom. Mrs. Harris is known for creating an environment where students feel safe, valued, and encouraged to be their best each day. She brings consistency, care, and a genuine belief in every child’s potential, helping students not only learn, but grow in confidence and independence.
“I have always had a passion for working with children, encouraging them, helping them recognize their value, and supporting them as they strive to reach their full potential,” Mrs. Harris said.
Libby Elementary Principal Mrs. Staci Davis shared high praise for Mrs. Harris and the impact she makes daily on campus.
“Ms. Harris exemplifies what it truly means to serve every child with heart and purpose. Patience isn’t just a virtue, it’s a daily practice, and she models it beautifully. Her kindness creates a safe, nurturing environment where our students can flourish, and her dedication and tireless work ethic never go unnoticed. She is not only an exceptional teacher but an inspiration to us all.”
Mrs. Harris’ recognition as Libby Elementary Teacher of the Year reflects not only her years of service, but the countless lives she has influenced along the way. Her ability to connect with students, build trust, and celebrate growth, both big and small, makes her a vital part of the Libby Elementary family.
