Carthage ISD is proud to recognize Ashlee Alexander as the Baker-Koonce Intermediate Teacher of the Year, honoring her exceptional dedication to students and her lasting impact on the campus community.
Mrs. Alexander serves as a Special Education teacher for grades 4, 5, and 6 at Baker-Koonce Intermediate, where she works daily to support students with diverse learning needs. With 27 years of experience in education, including 22 years in Carthage ISD and 19 years at Baker-Koonce, she brings both deep experience and a steady, student-centered approach to her classroom.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Alexander has built a reputation for creating a structured, supportive learning environment where students feel safe, valued, and capable of success. She is intentional in designing confidence-building lessons that meet students where they are academically while encouraging them to take the next step in their learning. Her classroom is a place where growth is celebrated, challenges are met with encouragement, and every student is given the opportunity to succeed.
Her work in special education requires patience, adaptability, and a deep understanding of individual student needs, all of which she demonstrates consistently. She collaborates closely with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure each student has the tools and support necessary to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Beyond her instructional role, Mrs. Alexander contributes to the overall strength of the Baker-Koonce campus through her professionalism, reliability, and willingness to support others. She is known by her colleagues as someone who can be counted on, whether itās sharing her expertise, assisting with campus needs, or simply offering encouragement.
