Carthage ISD is proud to recognize Whitney Hadwin as the Carthage High School Teacher of the Year, honoring her outstanding dedication to students and excellence in education.
Mrs. Hadwin serves as a science teacher at Carthage High School and currently leads as the Science Department Head, playing a key role in shaping instruction and supporting both students and fellow educators across campus. She brings 13 years of experience in education, including nine years in Louisiana and four years in Texas, with this year marking her fourth year at Carthage High School.
Throughout her career, Mrs. Hadwin has taught a wide range of courses, including Chemistry, Physical Science, Environmental Science, Biology, AP Biology, and Anatomy and Physiology. Her depth of knowledge and versatility in the classroom allow her to meet students where they are while challenging them to grow and succeed at a high level.
In addition to her classroom and departmental leadership, Mrs. Hadwin has served on numerous campus committees and is currently a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, where she helps guide campus initiatives and supports continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
Mrs. Hadwin is known for creating a classroom environment where students are both challenged and supported. Through engaging instruction and a passion for science, she encourages students to think critically, stay curious, and take ownership of their learning.
Her impact extends well beyond academics. She builds strong relationships with her students, taking time to understand their individual needs and helping them grow both academically and personally. Her commitment to student success is evident in the way she invests in each learner and creates meaningful opportunities for them to succeed.
