Carthage ISD is proud to recognize Melissa Blissett as the Carthage Primary Teacher of the Year, honoring an incredible career defined by dedication, love for students, and a lasting impact on generations of learners.

Mrs. Blissett has spent her entire 33-year career in education serving Carthage ISD and Carthage Primary. During that time, she has made a difference in the lives of countless students as both a Kindergarten teacher and a Kindergarten interventionist, helping young learners build the foundation they need for future success.

Widely known as the true definition of a Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Blissett brings a kind smile, a loving heart, and a deep understanding of her students into her classroom each day. She often shares that her classroom is her ā€œhappy place,ā€ and that joy is reflected in the faces of the students she serves. In her classroom, students know they are cared for, supported, and valued.

Her impact goes beyond creating a nurturing environment. Mrs. Blissett ensures that her students are learning and growing every single day, combining compassion with high expectations to help each child reach their full potential.

In addition to her work with students, Mrs. Blissett has served as a mentor to countless teachers on campus. Her experience, wisdom, and steady presence have helped guide and support fellow educators, making Carthage Primary stronger as a whole.

Principal Kassie Watson shared, ā€œMrs. Blissett is the heart of what it means to be a Kindergarten teacher. Her students know they are loved the moment they walk into her classroom, and they leave each day having learned something new. She has also been an incredible mentor to so many of our teachers. There truly isn’t anyone better to learn from than Melissa Blissett.ā€

The Teacher of the Year honor reflects Mrs. Blissett’s lifelong commitment to education and the meaningful difference she continues to make in the lives of students, families, and colleagues.
