Carthage ISD is proud to announce the promotion of Kersel Rayson to Director of Transportation Services, moving from her role as Interim Supervisor into the full-time position.
Rayson brings a lifetime of connection to Carthage ISD and a career built on service to students. She has spent 22 years working in the district taking on a variety of roles along the way.
Her experience includes serving as a Life Skills aide, reading intervention aide, UIL Academics coach, and coaching cross country, basketball, and track. She has also worked as a Life Skills teacher and bus driver. Within transportation, she has handled routing, trip assignments, discipline, substitute coordination, staff management, and bus driver certification and recertification.
For Rayson, this moment represents more than just a title.
āThis promotion is a representation of growth, hard work, and dedication,ā she said. āIāve learned to grow through hardship and keep my faith.ā
Her focus in this role is simple and steady.
āIt starts with our drivers and the safety of our students,ā Rayson said. āWe want to make sure every student is picked up and delivered safely and efficiently each day.ā
Her time as Interim Supervisor helped prepare her for the role and gave her the opportunity to grow as a leader.
āItās been a wonderful learning experience,ā she said. āIāve been grateful for the opportunity to grow through it.ā
Looking ahead, her priorities remain clear.
āWe want every route to run as safely and efficiently as possible,ā she said.
Raysonās connection to Carthage runs deep. She is a proud 1988 graduate of Carthage High School and says serving the district means something special.
āI enjoy representing my alma mater. I was born and raised right here in Carthage.ā
She also shared a message for students, staff, and the community, āHard work and dedication pays off. Keep God first, keep your head up, push forward, and stay focused. Be patient, believe in yourself, and never stop growing.ā
Carthage ISD is proud to have Rayson leading the transportation department and is grateful for her continued commitment to the students and families she serves every day.
