National Signing Day 2026

Six Carthage High School senior student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent on National Signing Day, Wednesday, Feb. 4, committing to continue their academic and athletic careers at the collegiate level.

The Bulldogs signees represented football, softball, cheer, baseball and golf, and each compiled notable achievements during their high school careers.

Student-athletes who signed on Feb. 4

Brooklyn Bagley, softball: University of Arkansas Rich Mountain
Bagley currently has a career 459 strikeouts and a standout 2025 season at the plate, posting a .446 batting average with 24 RBIs and a .679 slugging percentage. She also recorded a 10-5 pitching record with 75 strikeouts and three saves, and earned recognition including TSWA 4A all-state honorable mention and first-team honors on the Longview News Journal All-East Texas Team. She was also named the 2023 Pitcher of the Year and 2024 Defensive Player of the Year for district 23-AA at Joaquin prior to her move to Carthage.

Jeremiah Jones, football: Texas Wesleyan University
Jones earned first-team all-state honors on the Padilla Poll and was named District 8-4A Division II offensive lineman of the year. He recorded a 95% grade for the season with 56 knockdowns and was ranked No. 3 among East Texas offensive linemen across all classifications.

Madison Powell, cheer: East Texas Baptist University
Powell, a 12-year competitive cheer athlete, was an NCA all-American nominee all four years of high school. She also served in leadership roles as a junior varsity captain and varsity captain.

Brooks Soape, baseball: Dallas College Eastfield
A three-year varsity starter, Soape earned 2024 district co-defensive MVP and was named 2025 first-team all-district catcher. He helped lead the Bulldogs to a regional finalist finish and posted a .988 fielding percentage. At the plate, he batted .330 with nine doubles, four triples, one home run and 38 RBIs.

Jett Surratt, golf: Texas A&M University-Texarkana
Surratt qualified for regionals all three years and advanced to state as a sophomore and junior. A three-time all-state, all-region and all-district honoree, he was named Best Preps East Texas Golfer of the Year and district champion his freshman year. Surratt won nine high school tournaments to date, earned medalist honors in 12 additional events and set a school record with a 65 at The Bearkat Course in Huntsville.

Alex Welk, baseball: Arkansas State University Three Rivers
Welk is a two-year varsity letterman who helped the Bulldogs to a regional finalist finish in 2025. He recorded a 6-4 pitching record with a 3.45 ERA, making 12 starts and striking out 63 batters in 52.2 innings. He was named 2025 second-team all-district pitcher.

The student-athletes were recognized during a National Signing Day ceremony Wednesday, Feb. 4, celebrating their commitments and accomplishments alongside family, coaches, teammates and campus leaders.
