Micaelah Burns

Carthage ISD is proud to announce Micaelah Burns, a junior at Carthage High School, has been selected for the Texas All-State Choir and earned placement in the Small School Mixed Choir.

Selection to an All-State ensemble is widely recognized as one of the highest honors Texas student musicians can achieve, earned through a highly competitive audition process that begins each fall and advances through multiple rounds. As part of this process, only seven students from each voice section in the area were selected, demonstrating the elite level of performance required to earn this honor.

Burns will travel to San Antonio for the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Clinic/Convention, held Wednesday, Feb. 11 through Saturday, Feb. 14, 2026, at the Henry B. GonzƔlez Convention Center. While at TMEA, she will rehearse with the other All-State singers, participate in clinics, and receive intensive instruction from nationally recognized clinicians before taking the stage for the All-State performance on Saturday, Feb. 14.

ā€œThis is an outstanding achievement, and it reflects the kind of consistent work Micaelah has put in over time,ā€ said Dr. Justin Hodges, Carthage High School choir director. ā€œThe All-State process is a demanding, three-stage audition sequence, and being selected means she has earned her place among the top student singers in Texas. It culminates in intensive rehearsals and instruction at TMEA and an All-State performance with the best of the best.ā€

Carthage ISD congratulates Micaelah Burns on this well-earned honor and celebrates the dedication it takes to represent Carthage High School at the state level.
