Carthage ISD has named Mr. Todd Dock as the new Director of Bands following approval by the Board of Trustees at last night’s regular meeting. Mr. Dock has served as the district’s Interim Director of Bands since early October when the previous director resigned. During that time, he led the program to a first division rating at the UIL Region 21 Marching Contest and a trip to the UIL State Military Marching Band Contest in Waco.
Mr. Dock brings more than a decade of experience in music education and program leadership. His background includes serving as Director of Bands in Diboll ISD, junior high band director at Finley Junior High in Waxahachie ISD, and Assistant Director and Brass Curriculum Instructor in Nacogdoches ISD. He holds a Master of Music Education from Lamar University and a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. His work has earned recognition including Teacher of the Year at Diboll High School, multiple arts in education awards, and significant program growth achievements in both marching and concert settings.
“The kids here are pretty amazing,” said Todd Dock. “I can see their potential and I can tell that it's endless, and I'm excited to have the opportunity to be the Director of Bands here.”
Superintendent Jarrod Bitter said he is pleased to see Mr. Dock officially named to the role after serving in an interim capacity. “Since the moment Mr. Dock stepped into the interim role, I have heard an incredible amount of positive feedback from band students, parents, and community members about his leadership,” Bitter said. “Our students trust him, our parents appreciate him, and our community is proud of the direction he is taking this program. We are excited to officially welcome him as Director of Bands for Carthage ISD.”
Mr. Dock has led the Carthage Junior High and high school band programs since August 2024 and has quickly earned the respect of students, families, and staff through his steady leadership and student-centered approach. Carthage ISD looks forward to the continued growth of the Battlin’ Bulldog Band under his direction.
