Charles Matthews Foundation Trustees with Carthage ISD Education Foundation Executive Committee Members

The Charles C. Matthews Foundation has generously donated $100,000 to the Carthage ISD Education Foundation, reinforcing its longstanding commitment to local education and student success.

This significant contribution will directly support two key areas: campus grants that enhance learning opportunities across Carthage ISD schools and scholarships that help graduating seniors pursue higher education.

“This incredible gift from the Charles C. Matthews Foundation will have a lasting impact on our students and teachers,” said Tracey Smith, executive director of the Carthage ISD Education Foundation. “We are deeply grateful for their continued support and dedication to advancing education in our community.”

Carthage ISD Superintendent Jarrod Bitter said the donation highlights the vital role of community partnerships in the district’s success. “Our mission at Carthage ISD is to provide students with every opportunity to reach their full potential,” Bitter said. “The generosity of the Charles C. Matthews Foundation ensures that our teachers have the resources to inspire innovation in the classroom and that our graduates have the support to take their next steps with confidence.”

The campus grants funded by this donation will allow educators to implement innovative classroom projects, purchase new learning materials and enhance student engagement through enriched academic experiences. Meanwhile, the student scholarships will provide critical financial assistance to help Carthage ISD graduates achieve their college and career goals.

The Charles C. Matthews Foundation has been a longtime partner to the Carthage ISD Education Foundation for many years, with a history of investing in the future of Carthage’s youth. This latest contribution once again demonstrates the foundation’s belief in the power of education and its commitment to making a positive difference in students’ lives.

Current trustees for the Charles C. Matthews Foundation are Richard Ballenger, David Bush, Jim Payne, Vern Reeder and Robert Underwood.
