Teacher reading to student

The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has released the 2022–23 accountability ratings, and once again, Carthage ISD's overall B rating reflects the district's ongoing commitment to academic growth and student achievement.

The publication of these results was delayed due to a lawsuit involving the state's accountability system.

This data used to calculate these A-F ratings is not new to Carthage ISD. The district has had access to this information for some time, and it has been thoroughly reviewed and presented to the Carthage ISD Board of Trustees. The insights gained have been instrumental in guiding instructional strategies and implementing targeted interventions to enhance student outcomes.

“We’ve been actively using this data to inform our decisions and improve our educational practices for a couple of years now,” said Superintendent Jarrod Bitter. “Our teachers and staff should be commended for their dedication to our students' success, and this rating reflects their hard work and commitment.”

Carthage ISD schools have also earned a total of 10 academic distinctions. These include Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts (Carthage High School), Academic Achievement in Social Studies (Carthage Junior High), Top 25 Percent: Comparative Academic Growth (Carthage Junior High, Carthage High School), Top 25 Percent: Comparative Closing the Gaps (Libby Elementary, Carthage Junior High, Carthage High School), and Postsecondary Readiness (Libby Elementary, Carthage Junior High, Carthage High School). Carthage Primary is not eligible for academic distinctions due to the grade levels served at that campus.

Carthage ISD remains focused on its mission to provide a high-quality education that is in alignment with community standards. True accountability lies at the local level, and we take that responsibility very seriously. The district will continue to utilize data like this to foster academic growth and ensure that every student is equipped for future success.
