A group of six Carthage High School students had the opportunity this morning to sit down with U.S. Congressman Nathaniel Moran for a candid, face-to-face discussion about public service, leadership, and educational opportunities.

The students came prepared with thoughtful questions, asking Congressman Moran about his inspiration for entering politics, what a typical day in office looks like, and how his team supports students applying to U.S. Military Service Academies. He also shared about his own experience applying to West Point, noting the value he saw in having his college education fully funded—especially coming from a modest upbringing with hardworking parents who instilled in him the importance of service and education.

CHS students talking with Congressman Nathaniel MoranCongressman Moran also encouraged the students to explore other opportunities available through his office, including internships and youth leadership programs. He closed the conversation with words of encouragement, reminding students to stay grounded in their values, work hard, and serve their community well.

ā€œOur students represented Carthage ISD with pride and professionalism,ā€ said Superintendent Jarrod Bitter. ā€œCongressman Moran is a great supporter of public schools in east Texas, and we are grateful for his investment in our students and being a great example of what’s possible when they lead with purpose and integrity.ā€

Carthage ISD is proud of these student leaders for representing their school with excellence and for taking part in this meaningful experience.
