“I am completely humbled and honored to have the opportunity to lead the Carthage Battlin’ Bulldog Band,” said Mr. Cotton. “The Carthage band has a rich tradition and history of success in the military marching band world, and I look forward to working with the talented students and building a staff that will continue to build upon this legacy of excellence.”

Prior to joining Carthage ISD, Mr. Cotton served as the band director at Timpson High School and held various educational roles, including high school principal, adjunct professor at a university, and supervisor of education in different school districts and institutions across Texas and Alaska. "We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Cotton to Carthage ISD,” said Superintendent Jarrod Bitter. “Adding someone with his years of experience and record of success is a tremendous win for the students in Carthage ISD, and we are confident that he will continue to build upon the proud tradition of our band program."

Mr. Cotton has been married to his wife, Ruth, for six years and they have five adult children, Waylan, Kimberly, Chani, Christian and Clare. He is the proud grandfather to four wonderful grandchildren and is excited to welcome a new grandchild into the world this year.
