Carthage High School was proud to be part of the Panola County Special Field Day, hosted at Bulldog Stadium by Carthage ISD in partnership with Panola County SSA. Today was all about celebrating incredible students, their abilities, their joy, and the energy they brought to Bulldog Stadium.
We are especially proud of our CHS students who served as āBig Buddiesā today. You represented our campus in the best way, building connections, showing kindness, and helping create an unforgettable experience for every athlete.

Carthage High School Athletics will have a full slate of competition during the week of April 13ā17. Boys Golf will compete in the Regional Tournament in Sulphur Springs on Monday and Tuesday, followed by the Girls Golf Regional Tournament on Wednesday and Thursday. On Tuesday, Bulldog Baseball will travel to Henderson with JV Red beginning at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity at 7:00 p.m., while Lady Dawg Softball will be on the road at Tyler Chapel Hill with JV at 5:00 p.m. and Varsity at 6:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Carthage Track and Field will compete in the Area Meet, with events scheduled throughout the day. The week concludes on Friday as the Bulldogs host Henderson in a key district matchup at Bulldog Park, with JV Red at 4:30 p.m. and Varsity at 7:00 p.m. Lady Dawg Softball will also host Henderson, with JV at 5:00 p.m. and Varsity at 6:30 p.m., and the evening will include Senior Night recognition. We encourage all fans to come out and support our student-athletes throughout the week.

This week in Ms. Hammettās Human Growth & Development class, students got an incredible hands-on learning experience!
š Jakyria Shelton, an aspiring CNA, stepped into the role of student-teacher and led a powerful team teaching lesson alongside Ms. Hammett.
š¶š” Jakyria guided her classmates through the proper techniques for performing CPR on infants and toddlersāa life-saving skill that takes knowledge, confidence, and care.
This is what itās all aboutāstudents applying real-world skills, stepping into leadership roles, and preparing for impactful futures in healthcare.
šŖš We are so proud of Jakyria for sharing her passion and of Ms. Hammett for creating opportunities that empower students to lead and learn!

This week in Carthage Bulldog Athletics (March 29 ā April 4), our Dawgs are competing across multiple district events and we invite Dawg Nation to come out and support. On Monday, varsity boys and girls golf compete in the district tournament, varsity tennis competes in the district tournament in Longview, and JV White baseball hosts Kilgore at 6:00 PM. Tuesday continues varsity tennis district play in Longview, along with softball vs. Kilgore (JV at 5:00 PM, varsity at 6:30 PM) and baseball vs. Spring Hill (JV Red at 4:30 PM, varsity at 7:00 PM). On Wednesday, JV track hosts the district meet at Bulldog Stadium. Thursday includes varsity boys and girls track at Rusk, JV tennis competing at the district tournament in Pine Tree, and baseball and softball traveling to Spring Hill (baseball JV Red at 4:30 PM, varsity at 7:00 PM; softball JV at 5:00 PM, varsity at 6:30 PM). We appreciate the continued support of our student-athletes as they compete and represent Carthage with pride. Every day is a great day to be a Bulldog.

Coach Hillās Outdoor Education and PE classes spent time fishing this week at the beloved CHS Pond, enjoying the outdoors, building skills, and making the kind of memories students will remember long after the school day ends.

š¤š Carthage CX Debate Headed Back to State! šš¤
Carthage High School students Caroline LaGrone and Brenden Selby have qualified for the 2026 UIL Cross-Examination (CX) Debate State Tournament in Conference 4A, continuing an incredible run for the duo. This marks the fourth consecutive year the pair has advanced to the UIL State Meet, a remarkable accomplishment that reflects years of dedication, preparation, and competitive excellence.
The UIL CX State Tournament for Conferences 4A, 5A, and 6A will take place March 20ā21 at The University of Texas at Austin. Caroline and Brenden will represent Carthage High School and Dawg Nation on one of the most competitive academic stages in Texas.
Adding to the milestone, Caroline LaGrone earned Top Speaker at the district competition for the fourth consecutive year, an extraordinary achievement that highlights both her talent and commitment to the craft of debate.
Carthage also had strong performances across the program, as Camila ĆƱiguez and Shia Wallace earned recognition as state alternates after placing third at the district competition.
āCaroline and Brenden are extremely hard-working students,ā said Carthage High School debate coach Abby Wilkerson. āThey have shown time and time again what it takes to make it to the next level. They have earned this spot through their dedication to both the team and the craft of debate itself. Caroline receiving the top speaker for all four years of high school is incredible and speaks to both her natural ability and love of the event. We are extremely proud of their hard work, dedication, and amazing talent.ā

š Lady Dawg Earns Regional Recognition ā And a Scholarship! š¾
Carthageās Laney Alexander was recently recognized on the 903 Volleyball Show as one of the 14 Defensive Volleyball Players of the Week from across East Texas.
The show ā hosted by Harlen āThe Sports Guyā and Pigskin Bob and heard every Tuesday night from 7ā10 PM on 105.7 KYKX ā held a drawing among the weekly honorees for a $1,005 college scholarship.
š Laney Alexanderās name was drawn as the scholarship winner!
The scholarship is generously funded by Doug Monsour of The Monsour Law Firm, whose continued support helps invest in the future of student-athletes throughout our region.
