Old-Fashioned Pecan Chewies

1 box light brown sugar
1 stick butter
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped pecans

(She never measures the vanilla nor the pecans!)

Cream the butter & sugar together.  Add the eggs, creaming well after each one.
Add the flour, vanilla, & pecans. Mix well. Pour batter into a buttered pan, and
bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  Allow to cool before cutting.
