Brown Sugar Cookies

1 cup shortening, creamed
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar

2 well-beaten eggs
2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. cream of tartar

3 cups flour, sift before measuring
1 pinch salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix as listed. Spoon on greased cookie sheet. Mash down with fork & place
a pecan half on top before baking. 

Bake 6-8 minutes at 375 degrees.
