Kahlua Fudge Brownies

yields 15 servings

4 oz. unsweetened chocolate

1 c. butter

1-1/2 T. instant espresso powder

2 c. sugar

4 eggs

1 c. flour

¼ tsp. salt

1 tsp. vanilla extract

1 T. Kahlua or other coffee-flavored liqueur

2 c. chopped nuts

1 c. semisweet chocolate chips

 

*Melt chocolate with the butter in a heavy saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly; remove from heat.  Add the espresso powder, stirring until dissolved.

 

*Stir in the sugar.  Add the eggs 1 at a time, beating well after each addition.  Add the flour, salt, vanilla and Kahlua, mixing well.

 

*Fold in the nuts and chocolate chips.  Spread in a greased and floured 9x13 baking pan.

 

*Bake at 350 degrees for 30 min. or until the center is set.  Cut into squares to serve.
