First Period Activities
AR Reading Classes - Students who pass their TAKS Benchmarks go to AR Reading 1st period.
Seventh grade AR Reading students have been reading Hatchet and eighth grade students
have been reading A Day No Pigs Will Die. Teachers read the novels with the students
and test their comprehension. Students may earn AR points when they take the AR test
at the end of the novel.
Scheduling for first period will be flexible, with students who fail benchmarks being
put into TAKS Math or TAKS Reading classes. The dates for these schedule changes coincide
with Math Benchmark dates.
Some of the other novels that students in AR Reading will be reading are as follows:
The Bridge to Terabithia, The Call of the Wild, The Outsiders, Homecoming, Across
Five Aprils, Where the Red Fern Grows, Remembering the Good Times,
 and A Day
No Pigs Would Die.
