| Mr. Boland's GT Students traveled to SFA to compete in the Model UN program. Each student submitted a resolution for discussion and debate. They had to defend their ideas and seek others to support their resolution as they attempted to get the resolution on the floor for debate and approved by each committee before it could be placed before the full General Assembly and debated and approved there. A group of four students, Zoen Whaley, Jacqueline Jackson, Laramie Smith, and Will Harris, worked as part of the UN Security Council and tried to avoid total world conflict through artful negotiations and diplomatic mumbo jumbo. Mr. Boland commented, "This was real world stuff. Our students really did a fine job. I am proud of them. We walked away with one first place trophy for 'impromptu resolution writing.' This was won by the group representing the country of France, lead by Erin Donald. This is not an easy trophy to get either! Overall we did CJHS proud." |

their countries. The Romania delegation, which included Kimberly Ferguson (head
delegate), Lacey Tucker, Courtlynd Miller, Jully Zhu and Kellen Bass won third
place for the Best Environmental Summit Delegation. The delegation from France
included Kathryn Cox (head delegate), Gabby Sapp, Andrea Cordero-Ramirez, Micah
Almeida, Priscilla Bishop and Ricardo Celedon. Argentina was represented by
Brianna Morgan (head delegate), Ally Smith, Colton Holland, Christian Schelhouse,
Alejandra Jacogo and Luis Escobedo. Maris Riley (head delegate), Steven Zhu and
Chance Price did a great job of representing the small delegation of Australia.
Veteran's Day Observance - many students will be involved in
interviewing local veterans and
presenting the results of those interviews during the assembly.
| Mr. Pearson's first period project class has currently participated in creating presentations on the subject of great people and events of the twentieth century. Some discussed topics include The Challenger's crash, 9/11,The Titanic's sinking, and movies made by special effects whiz, George Lucas. Each student was paired with a partner, and the entire class had spent plenty of time in Mrs. Dennard's computer lab researching their topic. After all their information was found, each group was required to turn in a report completely covering their topic. Many of these reports were three-to-four pages each! Next, a quiz was made to test the students on the topic once the presentation had been performed. Lastly, each group put together a period-long presentation. Numerous performances included costumes, lights and games, which were all finished off with a quiz and a well-earned grade! | ![]() |
