John Gaertner graduated from Denton High school
in 1992 and got a bachelors in Music from West Texas A&M University in
Canyon Texas. His major instrument is clarinet. While in college John
was a member of the marching band, symphonic band, jazz band, full
orchestra, and clarinet ensemble. In 1993 John marched with the Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps playing baritone.
John has taught for three years at
Amarillo High School, three years at Gladewater Middle School, and three
years at New Diana High School. He is currently in his 4th year of
teaching at Carthage Junior High. John's bands have received numerous
awards and recognition over the past 12 years.John is a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carthage and
sings regularly with the church choir.
John has been married to his wife, Catherine, for 11 years and has two
beautiful daughters, Grace and Ella.

Chris Conway is in his
10th year
with Carthage ISD and 9th year in charge of the 7th grade band. Before
coming to Carthage, he was head director at Captain Shreve High School in
Shreveport, Louisiana for two years. His major instrument is trombone.
He is a graduate of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana
with a Bachelor's of Music Education and a Master's of Music. At NSU, he
participated in the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band, Wind Ensemble,
Wind Symphony, Basketball Pep Band, NSU Brass Ensemble, and
Natchitoches/Northwestern Symphony Orchestra. He was also involved in Phi Mu
Alpha SINFONIA Fraternity and Student Government Association.
He has played professionally with the Bill Causey Orchestra, The Sounds of
Swing, and the Centenary Summer Band. He is a member of both TMEA and ATSSB.
Chris was also named a Distinguished Teacher for Carthage ISD in 2008 by
the Carthage Education Foundation.
He is married to his wife, Tamesa, and has a step-son, Matt. |
